Shri P Goverdhan, former Outstanding Scientist and Controller, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) took charge as Secretary, Atomic Energy Education Society (AEES) on 10th August 2022. Shri Goverdhan obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from University Visveswariah College of Engineering (UVCE), Bengaluru in 1983. He joined the 28th batch of BARC training school in August 1984 and joined Reactor Projects Group at BARC, thereafter Shri Goverdhan in the initial years worked on design and analysis of radiation protection systems for Nuclear Reactors and associated facilities. His major contributions include design of radiation protection systems for Light Water Reactors (LWR), Indian PHWRs and design and development of radiation monitoring systems. He taught shielding design and analysis in BARC Training School as part of Reactor Engineering course. While working at BARC Shri Goverdhan obtained his Masters degree in Human Resource Development Management from Pr. Welingkar Institute of Management, Mumbai University. He was appointed Head Planning and Co-Ordination Division and Secretary TC/TSC, BARC in December 2014 where he contributed towards policy formulation, project management and scientific administration. Shri Goverdhan was given additional charge as Controller BARC in July 2016 which he held till superannuation. As Controller BARC, he was responsible for General Administration of the Centre, Recruitment and Training of personnel, Security Management and Implementation of IT systems. Shri Goverdhan received the DAE Special Contribution Award in 2011 for his work in Nuclear Science and Engineering and is also recipient of group achievement Awards. Post superannuation, he has been serving the Department of Atomic Energy as member of various committees and has joined the Department as Raja Ramanna Fellow on 1st August 2022.

Shri Ranajit Kumar , former Outstanding Scientist and Head, Nuclear Controls and Planning Wing (NCPW), Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, took charge as Chairman, AEES, in the forenoon of 17 Aug 2023. Shri Ranajit Kumar, a retired Outstanding Scientist from DAE is currently serving as a Raja Ramanna Fellow of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC). Shri Ranajit Kumar served as Head, Nuclear Controls and Planning Wing (NCPW) in the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) till his superannuation in September 2022 where he was responsible for Policy Planning, International Cooperation, Safeguards, Mega Science Projects and Nuclear Safety & Security. During his tenure in DAE, he served in various important assignments like: Member to the Council (Academic, Executive and Management) of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research - TIFR (2017-2019) under the Chairmanship of Shri Ratan Tata, Member to the ITER (International Thermo-Nuclear Experimental Reactor) Council, France, Member to the Board of Radiation and Isotope Technology – BRIT, Member to the Standing Advisory Group on Safeguards Implementation (SAGSI) of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Chairman, Advisory Council of the Global Centre for Nuclear Energy Partnership (GCNEP) Shri Ranajit Kumar is an electronics engineer from Indian Institute of Engineering, Science and Technology (IIEST) and graduate (in Electronics Engineering) of Training School of BARC (1984-1985, 28th batch). Prior to moving to DAE in 2016, he served 32 years in BARC where he designed several computer/electronic systems for Nuclear Safety and Nuclear Security for different types of nuclear installations including nuclear power plants, reprocessing, waste management and fuel fabrication plants & R&D laboratories etc. He was responsible for organizing several international, regional and national training courses on nuclear security and has also served as faculty in training courses on nuclear security organized by International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in various countries spanning 5 continents. He was also involved in regulation of different types of nuclear installations in India. Shri Ranajit Kumar was awarded DAE Technical Excellence Award of DAE in the year 2010 and several DAE Group Achievement Awards for excellence in Science, Engineering and Technology. Shri Ranajit Kumar is a Fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE) since 2019 श्री रणजीत कुमार, पूर्व उत्कृष्ट वैज्ञानिक और प्रमुख, परमाणु नियंत्रण और योजना विंग (एनसीपीडब्ल्यू), भाभा परमाणु अनुसंधान केंद्र ने 17 अगस्त 2023 की दोपहर परमाणु ऊर्जा शिक्षण संस्था के अध्यक्ष के रूप में कार्यभार संभाला। डीएई से सेवानिवृत्त उत्कृष्ट वैज्ञानिक श्री रणजीत कुमार वर्तमान में भाभा परमाणु अनुसंधान केंद्र (बीएआरसी) के राजा रमन्ना फेलो के रूप में कार्यरत हैं। श्री रणजीत कुमार ने सितंबर 2022 में अपनी सेवानिवृत्ति तक परमाणु ऊर्जा विभाग (डीएई) में परमाणु नियंत्रण और योजना विंग (एनसीपीडब्ल्यू) के प्रमुख के रूप में कार्य किया, जहां वे नीति नियोजन, अंतर्राष्ट्रीय सहयोग, सुरक्षा उपायों, मेगा विज्ञान परियोजनाओं और परमाणु सुरक्षा और विकास के लिए जिम्मेदार थे। डीएई में अपने कार्यकाल के दौरान, उन्होंने विभिन्न महत्वपूर्ण पदों पर कार्य किया, जैसे: श्री रतन टाटा की अध्यक्षता में टाटा इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ फंडामेंटल रिसर्च - टीआईएफआर (2017-2019) की परिषद (शैक्षणिक, कार्यकारी और प्रबंधन) के सदस्य, सदस्य। ITER (इंटरनेशनल थर्मो-न्यूक्लियर एक्सपेरिमेंटल रिएक्टर) काउंसिल, फ्रांस, विकिरण और आइसोटोप प्रौद्योगिकी बोर्ड के सदस्य - BRIT, अंतर्राष्ट्रीय परमाणु ऊर्जा एजेंसी (IAEA) के सुरक्षा उपायों के कार्यान्वयन (SAGSI) पर स्थायी सलाहकार समूह के सदस्य, अध्यक्ष, सलाहकार ग्लोबल सेंटर फॉर न्यूक्लियर एनर्जी पार्टनरशिप (जीसीएनईपी) आदि की परिषद। श्री रणजीत कुमार भारतीय इंजीनियरिंग, विज्ञान और प्रौद्योगिकी संस्थान (IIEST) से एक इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स इंजीनियर हैं और BARC (1984-1985, 28वें बैच) के प्रशिक्षण स्कूल से स्नातक (इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स इंजीनियरिंग में) हैं। 2016 में डीएई में जाने से पहले, उन्होंने बीएआरसी में 32 वर्षों तक सेवा की, जहां उन्होंने परमाणु ऊर्जा संयंत्रों, पुनर्प्रसंस्करण, अपशिष्ट प्रबंधन और ईंधन निर्माण संयंत्रों और अनुसंधान एवं विकास प्रयोगशालाओं सहित विभिन्न प्रकार के परमाणु प्रतिष्ठानों के लिए परमाणु सुरक्षा और परमाणु सुरक्षा के लिए कई कंप्यूटर/इलेक्ट्रॉनिक सिस्टम डिजाइन किए। वह परमाणु सुरक्षा पर कई अंतरराष्ट्रीय, क्षेत्रीय और राष्ट्रीय प्रशिक्षण पाठ्यक्रमों के आयोजन के लिए जिम्मेदार थे और उन्होंने 5 महाद्वीपों में फैले विभिन्न देशों में अंतर्राष्ट्रीय परमाणु ऊर्जा एजेंसी (आईएईए) द्वारा आयोजित परमाणु सुरक्षा पर प्रशिक्षण पाठ्यक्रमों में संकाय के रूप में भी काम किया है। वह भारत में विभिन्न प्रकार के परमाणु प्रतिष्ठानों के नियमन में भी शामिल थे। श्री रणजीत कुमार को वर्ष 2010 में डीएई के डीएई तकनीकी उत्कृष्टता पुरस्कार और विज्ञान, इंजीनियरिंग और प्रौद्योगिकी में उत्कृष्टता के लिए कई डीएई समूह उपलब्धि पुरस्कार से सम्मानित किया गया था। श्री रणजीत कुमार 2019 से इंडियन नेशनल एकेडमी ऑफ इंजीनियरिंग (INAE) के फेलो हैं।
